Happiness – everyone wants it, everyone dreams of having it, but for most of us, happiness just seems like an impossible dream. In the world of today, when everything is so fast-paced and stressful, how can happiness ever be achieved? And while it may be all right for those who have money and can buy their way into being happy, for most everybody else it just seems like life is destined to be miserable. Well to begin with, it is no more difficult to become happy in the modern world than it has ever been. And the good news is that happiness can start from where you are, whatever the circumstances. Feeling happy is something everyone wants.  Whether or not you admit it to yourself, being happy is something each of us seeks.  The positive feelings the come from helping others and doing something well are wonderful.  These are two examples of actions that we take that provide us good feelings.  This reinforces our desire to do more.  A cycle of positive repeatable actions not only benefits the intended recipient but also the giver.  This is an example of a tangible action with verifiable results.  Philanthropists do what they do for a number of reasons.  They often express it this way: They want to give back for the good they have received.  Yes they may not do what they do for purely altruistic reasons, but neither can we, nor should we attempt to determine motives by speculation.

Isn’t it better to make every attempt to live a happy and satisfied life and help others to do the same?  A famous person once said, “Give enough people what they want and you will get what you want too.”  The problem is that negative circumstances and problems seem to crowd our lives.  The result is that often people become overwhelmed, discouraged and depressed.

How can you move from feeling negative, despite all that is around you that makes you feel much less positive than you would like to be?  Below are “10 Steps to Being Happy Now”.  Read them through and find more information at the end of this article.

1.    Realize that feelings whether good or bad are just feelings.  This means that you can change them.  You are the one who gives yourself permission to feel a certain way in any given moment.  No one else can tell you how to feel.

2.    A feeling is a signal that your body gives you to take action.  Recognize this and evaluate what your next step should be.  Often we don’t know what steps to take or take the wrong action.  This does not resolve the problem.  Often it only makes it worse.  Try to be aware of the signals that your mental and physical states are trying to tell you and take corrective action.  Sometimes these feelings are the result of negative events just past.

3.    Sometimes events trigger negative associations from the past and we are not even aware of this.  A long passed event buried in our subconscious mind can resurface.  Therefore be as aware of your past as possible and reinforce negative events with positive ones in your mind.

4.    Your mind is like a computer.  It will play back to us whatever we give it.  If we focus on negative things, then that is what will show up in our thoughts and actions most often.  Give yourself positive thoughts and associations.  When you find yourself thinking a negative thing, force yourself to stop the thought process in your head and replace it with something positive.

5.    Reflect on all the good things there are in your life.  The fact that you are even able to evaluate your situation and move toward some positive outcome is a good thing.

6.    Take time to step outside of your situation and do some good for someone else.  Even if it is just listening to someone or offering your time to them.  This is a worthwhile contribution and a valuable gift.  Time is limited so when you give some away for the good of others, you really are giving of yourself.

7.    Remember that the person you are now is the result of all your past thoughts and actions.  While this may seems scary, if we used that information to act and think more positively, we can change our outcomes and begin living a better and more fulfilling life.

8.    Give yourself permission to be sad or depressed and a negative event, situation or circumstances for a specific set period then move on with a fresh outlook and optimism.

9.    Resolve that the most important choice you can make on a daily basis regardless of your circumstance is your choice of attitude.

10.    Being happy is not dependent on what you have.  Some of the poorest people on the planet are the happiest.  In contrast, some of the richest are the unhappiest.  If you set your happiness on things, you will always be disappointed.  True happiness comes from inside.  This is often related to finding something bigger than us to believe it.

When we look for the good around us we will find it.  Inspire someone today with your keen sense of self, a positive self-image and a passion for helping others.  Happiness does not need to be elusive and complicated.  Become aware of the signals that your mental and physical body is giving you.  Learn to take proper action of the electro-chemical signals in your body and you will find happiness.

There are no coincidences in life. Everything that shows up in your life is because you have used the law of attraction to bring it to you. You can do this consciously or unconsciously, it doesn’t matter to the universe. You enhance your spiritual growth when you use the law of attraction consciously.

You are creating your life from moment to moment. Everything that is happening in your life is happening because you choose for it to happen. You exist on many levels of consciousness, so sometimes you may believe that you did not create or co-create some of the things that happen or some of the experiences you may have.

Have faith that you are a creating machine and the way your life is unfolding is purely and wholly determined by the thoughts you think and the manifestation of those thoughts via the creative process working its magic.

Every person, thing, event and experience in your life is there because at some level of your being you created its existence in your experience. Have an understanding that this is so and then have faith in the process. This faith is rewarded by a belief in yourself that you are the master of your destiny.

You are the captain of your ship and you are navigating your vessel toward your desired destination by using the creative process in a conscious manner that keeps you on course. Hold the vision, steer your ship of desires and stay on course.

You are on a journey toward your vision using the creative powers of intention and desire to create experiences along the path of your journey designed with the overriding goal of helping you attain your vision.

Every person, thing, event and experience that you encounter along this journey was drawn to you, by you, through the creative abilities you possess and by your collaboration with a universe that is specifically designed to deliver your every request.

The more you understand this process, the more you will recognize that everything happens for a reason. There are no coincidences that happen in your life. Everything happens because of the overall plan and agreement you make with your source that you ask, the universe answers and you then allow whatever you desire to manifest (Seen or unseen).

Everything starts with a thought. That is you asking. The things that show up in life are answers. Sometimes things show up in your life as answers but you have forgotten what the question (your asking) was. Has this ever happened to you?

Faith and understanding in the process allows you to see what shows up in your life and your ability to consciously ask yourself “What is the request I made that this person, thing, event or experience is the answer?”

By allowing yourself to be open to all things and attached to nothing, you give yourself the space to let these people, things, events and experiences give you the gift that they hold for you. It is there somewhere. The key is to be open to whatever it is and be awake and aware enough to recognize and use it.

This is where the tools of non-judgment and acceptance play a key role in your ability to discern the message or gift that is delivered to you. By not judging the things that show up in your life, you leave all avenues of information open to flow to you. By accepting everything that shows up in your life you are giving the universe a message of gratitude for its delivery of whatever you ask for.

It wouldn’t be showing up in your life if you hadn’t first asked for it with your thoughts and beliefs. So look to see what the gifts are from everything that comes into your existence. The gift is there. The key is in your understanding of that and the openness to recognize what it is.

When someone looks into your eyes they should see something alive within you. Having a dream is like owning a lighthouse; it is a beacon that directs a community of men and women to see you have found purpose.

The dream directs us on our journey. At every turn we encounter its mystery. At each new level we become more of the person we were meant to become. In lonely times, when we pass through a storm of disappointment, we find our commitment is unshaken, our strength renewed.

Somehow, if we stay true to our vision, we emerge firmer in our convictions, believing in our ability to accomplish something meaningful.

As an artist, I have often thought that having a dream is like creating a sketch, since it very closely matches how I would begin a painting with a simple drawing. With a few pencil lines and an eye for movement, I find the right sense of balance. Jazzing it up with color, the theme emerges and ultimately the story is told.

The hidden life of an artist is revealed in those brush strokes, just as the highest hopes of the dreamer are revealed with every step taken in their journey to the impossible.

Every Saturday I read a column in the paper by a lady named Catherine Gallaso Vigoritto. She writes an uplifting column that motivates me to want to try harder and reach further within myself in order to find my “reserves” of faith.

In one of her more recent columns she wrote: “These are the best years of your life, so dream grand dreams and then go out and make them stunning realities.”

Her message is right on. We must all believe in our power to accomplish something better. We need to awaken to the idea that each moment holds new possibility and begin once more to see the world as a child does; wide-eyed and enthusiastic. When we see the opportunities that lie before us, we build more satisfying and joy-filled lives.

I like to write my goals down and post them on the walls of my studio. Believe it or not, they always come to pass in one form or another. Magically they have a way of finding me.

Setting the vision before my eyes keeps me focused. It may take one season or extend over many, but the result is the same.

Believe in your destiny. Keep your vision posted on the wall or taped to the refrigerator. Write down your most heartfelt dreams and when opportunity comes, step into your dream.

Often I have found that the world will seek to discourage the dream before it can burst through the soil of my heart. I have learned to treasure the dream’s essence within, while I wait for its tender shoots to become stronger.

Knowing in my heart my dream will one day blossom into the world, brings me peace. For a season we must protect the dream in order that it may grow quietly on the inside. But if we tenderly care for our deepest aspirations, slowly but surely the dream will become new life.

The journey of the dreamer is really a belief in ourselves. It forges passion into character. The dream becomes a pillar of hope we can trust in, lean on and learn from.

Dreaming is an act of faith. The light of your expectations will cast off the shadows of a disbelieving world. God has given the dreamer as a gift, to light an unbelieving world.

Find your treasure within and cherish it. Tomorrow is waiting for you to take the first step.

What is “Cash Gifting” and is it legal?

Cash gifting programs are the rage online right now. People are sending anywhere from $100 to $3000 cash and MORE to total strangers.

Usually the “sender” of the cash gift sends the cash to another person on a website after visiting thier website filled with videos and testimonials of how much money the “receiver” is making with “cash gifting”.

In return the sender expects to receive “instructions” or a “system” of how to also do the same, and also “receive gifts” from others. The sender usually also pays for some sort of admin fee for a “marketing website” so that he too can market themselves in the lucrative endeavor of cash gifting.

To get away from the fact that the sender is being solicited by the receiver’s website the sender is usually also required to send a pre formatted “gifting statement” and “non soliciation letter”. This is a thin veil of legal protection.

The “gifting websites” usually have some excerpt from the IRS code in regards to estate and gift taxes to “prove” that gifting is legal. But somehow they forget to mention that they are soliciting others to give. In addition, in most cases the giver expects to receive (and usually pays extra for) a similar marketing website and “instructions” or “support” or “marketing” methods such as leads, or advertising support or other marketing resources to get their website read by others.

So in summary “cash gifting” is just an expensive online version of a chain letter which falls under “mail fraud”.

It’s true that giving gifts of cash to others is legal. However marketing oneself to receive such gifts is ILLEGAL and no stack of signed “gifting statements” or “non solicitation” letters will protect the person otherwise when the law begins to crack down on program operators and participants.

So the bottom line is giving others a cash gift itself is legal but soliciting others to send you cash in “cash gifting” programs and operating such or similar programs is ILLEGAL. Using excerpts from IRS code that pertain to estate and gift taxes is irrelevant and can be construed as attempting to defraud others into thinking they are getting involved involved in a legal activity. Instructing them to sign a “gifting statement” and/or “non solicitation letter” and then have them send money through the mail or wire it or send it online electronically can fall under the broad category of mail fraud.

Here’s an analogy: you can buy prescription drugs from a drugstore. You can even take them yourself, but if you try to sell them to others online or offline you could get busted.

You can even give and loan money to others no problem, but if you try to start your own “bank” online and charge people fees for opening accounts chances are you will be in violation of banking and securities laws.

Get the picture?

My prediction is that within 24 months after this post if not sooner you will see headlines of AGs (attorney generals) and FBI, and other law enforcement cracking down on online cash gifting programs.

Final note and disclaimer: this post is going to tee off a lot of people and discussion online about the “legality” of cash gifting programs. I am not an attorney and do not claim to be one, but I do know a few attorneys and I still have not heard of any reputable attorneys being involved personally with such programs. (These programs usually say that their documents or programs were reviewed by attorneys…LOL).

Final thought to consider on this topic: History has proven that these types of money schemes come and go until they are in legal hot water. It’s just a matter of time before you will see program operators getting busted and the general consensus online that CASH GIFTING IS NOT LEGAL: CASH GIFTING IS ILLEGAL.

SIDE NOTE: It should be called “Cash Receiving” not “Cash Gifting”. Is “cash receiving” illegal?

Receiving cash from total strangers is legal until you try to sell the idea under the veil of a “legal” cash gifting program, and try to use some irrelevant excerpt from IRS code to prove that it’s a legal activity. Oh yeah, it becomes very illegal when you try to sell someone the idea to “give” you cash and to tell them you’ll teach them too how to get others to give them cash too and you’ll even provide them a website just like yours to help them do it.

It’s just a matter of time…

It is also the name of a fairly new business opportunity and real estate education program that has been making waves in major cities across America recently, Honolulu being no exception.

I have good friend named Robert R. that went to a NR opportunity meeting on the persistent request of one of his customer/friends. He called me the next day and told me what he witnessed made him sick to his stomach, and that he felt really bad for his friend.

Robert first explained to me that he was amazed that there were close to 300 people in the room.

What shocked him was the approach of what they were doing. This is what he explained to me:

He said that the presentation revolved around a real estate education course that they were trying to sell for over ten thousand dollars. For those that could not come up with the cash they recommended a list of “creative financing” which included using multiple credit cards (read: maxing out credit) and borrowing money from friends.

After the presentation, fast talking sales people went around the room and pre-qualified interested parties and then tried to isolate them, sit them down and go in for the close. He said since he was somewhat dressed and clean shaven and seemed articulate (read: looked like he had money) they went and asked him what he thought. Since he wasn’t “hot to trot” they soon passed him by.

The things that made him sick was that their presentation explained that others could make money by referring others to the Nouveau Riche program…all they had to do was refer 4 other people and they’d make commissions from the 5th referral on (in the home based business industry this is called a 4-up comp plan, most businesses that have this type of compensation utilize a 1-up or 2-up plan instead).

The thing that made him most sick was that they were trying to sell the “program” from $16,000 and up. Yes you read that right SIXTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS and up. At this point I had to laugh and interjected that “You don’t need pay $16k for a real estate education to learn how to invest in real estate, you can buy a house and use the $16k as a down payment…anything else you can read online or go to the public library and get all the real estate books and info you need for FREE.”

The thing that really bothered him the most was that his friend had already spent $18,000 (EIGHTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS) hoping she would get a real business opportunity and a chance to make money with Nouveau Riche’s exciting opportunity. She maxed out all her credit in order to do this. He didn’t have the heart to tell her that he thought she had been duped.

Fast forward a few weeks and months later…Robert’s friend was considering declaring personal bankruptcy and later was depressed and totally down and out because of the all the money she had spent for something that she thought and hoped might become more.

Who’s to blame here for this situation? Nouveau Riche? They are simply doing what they do, and providing a product/service that people are willing to pay thousands of dollars for. Robert’s friend? Did she really do her “due diligence” and understand what she was getting into? They did not coerce her into forking out her credit card.

The moral and lesson of this: ALWAYS DO DUE DILIGENCE…AND NEVER SPEND MORE MONEY THAN YOU REALLY CAN AFFORD TO… NO MATTER HOW “GREAT” THE OPPORTUNITY MAY SOUND TO YOU.

The other lesson of the story is this: Consider using your hard earned money for a down payment on real estate instead, and if you want a home based business do your due diligence, there are hundreds of other opportunities today that give a fantastic return on investment for much less the cost.
